Hello my fellow crafty people! Can you believe that 2018 is right around the corner? If you haven't checked out my recap of my 2017 Crafty Goals be sure to do so! I've filmed a video sharing with you an overview of my 2018 crafty goals down below, but I will dive in to some of them a bit more here. I'm also sharing some tips and tricks on ways to help you set your crafty goals and how to stay on track with them.


How to Set Realistic Goals:

You want your goal to be challenging, but you also want it to be realistic. Attempting to complete 1000 layouts in 2018 when you only made 68 in 2017 is a tiny bit unrealistic. You know your habits and schedule better than anyone. Base your goals on your expectations and your wants. If you work a full time job, maybe you should designate three nights a week to scrapbook. Sometimes providing yourself time to get creative is much more important than output. If you are a stay at home parent, maybe you can take some time in the morning or at night to get crafty. Maybe you're in college and trying to capture all of your fun memories, so maybe you should focus on Travelers Notebooks. Everyone is different and everyone has different reasons why the create. Take these tips in to consideration when you go to make your goal(s)!

The video I filmed below better explains my 2018 goals in some more details. I don't dive in to all of them, since some are goals for growing my social networks, but these are my top crafty goals. How to Stay on Track:

A year long goal can be overwhelming. At the beginning of the year, you're probably full of enthusiasm to get started, but once the year picks up and things get busy, creativity tends to fall to the way side. To keep myself on track, I like to set monthly goals or plan out what I want to focus on per month. In November 2017, I was focused on finishing up a 6x8 Travel Album I had started earlier in the year. Since I was so focused, it was the only thing I worked on, but I had so much fun and now have a completed album! Obviously, not everyone is the same so your goals and tactics should be different. Outlining where I am on a monthly basis definitely help me evaluate where I was putting my creative time and maybe that my goals should change (yes, they can change!).

Hello friends and happy new year! Now that 2017 is officially over we can look on to some awesome new endeavors and adventures coming in 2018! I'm personally so excited for this year where I am trying new things for the blog and my YouTube channel. Before we hop completely to 2018, let's take one last look at 2017 with some of my favorites!


I guess I'll start with my favorite places to get inspiration in 2017. I was addicted to Instagram this year. I follow so many wonderful ladies including Kira Ness (@kira.gets.crafty), Susan (@littlethingbigdays), Tracey Fox (@scrappylikeafox), and Andrea Gray (@retrohipmama). If you're looking for some crafty inspiration I would highly recommend these ladies! I also get a lot of inspiration from YouTube with crafters like Inkie Quill, Daisies Scraps, and Hannah Lemieux. If you ever need more recommendations I have a bunch!

Now, let's move on to the products category! I absolutely loved using my fine line bottle applicator this year. It is now one of my most used tools. It is featured a ton in most of my videos. Another favorite product are my new studio lights! I haven't had them too long, but I cannot wait to use them every single day I can for filming and crafting and more! One of my favorite collections that I worked with this year is the Wild Whisper No Place Like Home Collection. Now that I've moved away from home, I plan on making a mini album for documenting my home town using that collection. As for some of my favorite types of embellishments for 2017 includes wood veneer, flair, and washi tapes.

Now for favorite techniques that I did this year! I am still experimenting with mixed media, but I loved stenciling and the packaging technique. Watercolor will always have my heart. I plan on continuing that trend in to 2018 especially with my cards. A video will be coming soon sharing my goals and plans for 2018 so get super excited!

I just want to say that your goals may change during the course of the year. Mine certainly should have this year as there were some huge unexpected changes that occurred. It's important to give yourself time to reassess what your goals should be. Sometimes making new memories is more important than documenting. Be sure to let yourself have those spans of time to regenerate your crafty mojo. Now let us hop in to the final evaluation of my goals!

Yes, I have been making some cards! I am sending out a couple this week actually. I want to create a series of Halloween cards to send to everyone back home as well. I think they will like it. I am currently looking for a system to store them down here in the new place. I'm thinking some sort of box or bin. However, I'm still on the hunt.

This organizational goal also isn't going well with my life changes. I have a system that kinda works currently, but not really. I plan on filming a craft room tour before I completely move out hopefully, but it won't be the cleanest. You'll get a little glimpse of the current system when I film that. I have been creating cards still which you've seen a lot here on the blog.

This month I believe I handed out at least 6 cards! Definitely a nice and healthy number. If you follow me on my blog you'll see that I post most of my cards here. I made quite a few this month, so I'm quite happy with that. I however have not organized them at all. They're all in one spot, so that's good, but definitely not organized. I really need to wrangle my envelopes because they are out of whack!

My updates were shorter this month. I've been creating, but not really towards my goals. How're your crafty goals coming along? I'd love to hear about your thoughts on this monthly update as well! I love making cards. If you follow my YouTube channel, you'll see that I have posted a couple of card tutorials this week. I also typically post a bunch on my blog. I'm happy to say that I have sent out a couple of cards this week, 7 perhaps? Which is a great success in my book! I have been obsessed with new and fun card ideas. My Pinterest boards are practically overflowing with ideas! I have been making more cards this month, which you can see in my monthly wrap up video on my YouTube channel. I also uploaded more card tutorials this month which I hope you're all enjoying! May has not been a super successful month for goal achieving, but I am not going to give up! We're almost halfway through the year, but I still have hope. How're your goals going so far? If you didn't make any goals, it is never too late to start! I hope you enjoy these goal updates.

How has it already been another month?! I can hardly believe it is May and I'll be graduating in a few short weeks. While I'm still not exactly sure how my new job will effect my crafting/blogging schedule, I will still be bringing you tons of content (even if it isn't my normal format). Today is another crafty goal report. To be quite honest, I have not been actively working on any of these goals, but I'm hoping that maybe subconsciously I did something this month. Let's jump right into it and see how things went!



Lastly, this goal is one of my favorites to talk about. Card making is a big target for me this year. I'm getting obsessed with sending/giving them and now making them! You can check out my monthly wrap up video to see which and how many cards I created this month (mainly because I am writing this before the month is completely over ;) ).

1) Organize and find a place for my photo albums

This goal has not made much progress from last month. I am visiting home currently and perhaps we can make some forward movement on finding places for my albums to live. I would estimate that I need room to house ten albums, at least ideally I would like to reach that number. Luckily, I don't have them all chock full yet, so there's room to grow. I do have to put my layouts that I have created this year away still, but maybe next month.

2) Complete 2 travel albums

I haven't had a chance to work on many projects this month, especially my travel albums. In addition, to the two travel albums I wanted to get done this year, we just took another vacation. While I don't plan on scrapbooking that trip this year, I am planning ahead on what album sized I would like to do (probably 6x8 or 9x12) and I'm already creating a plan to print the photos. So, there's a tiny bit of progress this month.

3) Follow at least 2 spending freezes

As I said last month, this goal is hard for me. I am now on two design teams and I do have to purchase items to showcase, so this isn't going as planned, but I have been limiting what I spend at Michael's and JoAnn's when I get an urge to shop. I'm also thinking I've giving my stash a little refresh by doing a purge (even though I just did a small purge in January). Out with the old and in with the new as they say.


4) Create more cards and have an organizational system for them

Another month and another card goal. I did make quite a few cards this month, but not as many as I wanted. I missed Saint Patrick's Day, so I might go back and create some for that holiday for next year. Up next is Easter, and I would love to make a bunch of notecards for my friends and family with a fun spring theme. Luckily, one of my design team duties over at Scrapbook Blessings Club is a monthly challenge that I like to apply to cards. I created 8 cards this month and I loved a lot of them! I have not made any progress on my organizational process though, still working on ideas for that. If you have a system that works for me, please let me know!

This goal has not made any more progress than it did last month. However, we are closer to buying a new entertainment unit. If you remember from last month I mentioned that I wanted to keep some of my albums in our new entertainment center in the living room.

2) Complete 2 travel albums

I did make some progress on this goal. I have created quite a few pages for my Pittsburgh travel album. I'll be sharing the latest ones for this month over on my YouTube channel for my monthly wrap up. So, if you would like to take a glimpse come on over and check them out! That video will be up a few days after this post goes live. As for my other album, haven't touched it. I'm not going to lie it does overwhelm me. Mainly because we'll be going on another vacation soon and I won't have a single album done for 2016's trips. Oh well, I'll keep traveling faster than I can scrapbook it I suppose, haha.

3) Follow at least 2 spending freezes

To be quite honest, I'm not sure this goal will be able to be complete since I am on a design team currently and need to buy products to showcase. However, I have limited my spending immensely. So, I'm making progress, and although I can't quit cold turkey yet, maybe one day!

4) Create more cards and have an organizational system for them

Ah, yes, one of my favorite crafty goals. Make more cards! It sounds so simple, doesn't it? Well, I have made quite a few cards in February since Valentine's Day was here and now gone. This goal lives on to still inspire me to keep creating and sending cards. I'm slowly coming up with new ideas for who to send cards to like my grandpa who just got a new dog! The perfect occasion to send a little snail mail. The organization part has made absolutely no progress, but since I'm at school I will have to let that goal slide a little bit.

Hello everyone! Happy almost February! I have decided that it would be really cool to do a crafty goals monthly progress report (hopefully on the Sunday closest to the end of every month). I know that I often times lose sight of my goals when life gets busy and I'm hoping that this series will not only keep me on track, but inspire you all to keep track of the progress on your goals as well. In case you haven't seen my initial goal setting post, you can find it here!



1) Organize and find a place for my photo albums

I did not have set goals besides within the year to have each of these goals done. The main part of this goal was to organize and organize them I did...sort of. I decided that if they are in their albums according to year, I would be (moderately) happy. So, the albums may have Christmas in the front, middle or end, but it'll be the correct year at least! I'm proud to say that I have four full albums and I can't wait to scrap now that everything is organized! Although I do not have nearly enough albums to organize every year of my life separately at the moment, I have the most recent years in their own albums and grouped the older years. So, you could say this task is complete, however it will be an ongoing battle. I'm very bad at putting layouts away, especially while I'm at school. I will be hopefully more organized and more willing to put my layouts away now.

As for the second part of this goal, my albums are all sitting in a giant box. We recently got a much larger television and are looking to purchase a larger television stand to go with it. I put in my request that I would like to be able to house some of the albums in it. I'll keep you updated about how my request turns out.

2.) Complete 2 travel albums

In my previous post I mentioned that I wanted to finish one Disney album and then hopefully our Pittsburgh trip as well. I'm happy to say that I have finished several of my Pittsburgh trip pages and am having a blast with the 6x8 size that I'm working with. You can check out some of the process videos for those pages over on my YouTube channel! I plan on posting more and more here on the blog as well. 

As for my Disney album, I've made a few changes to this goal. I am going to work on one album at a time. I've realized a few things while I have been crafting away. First, things spark my interest at different times. This new album size has really forced me to think more creatively and I am enjoying the process thoroughly. Second, there's something lack luster about doing 12x12 pages right now. Don't worry, I would never give up my precious 12x12 layouts! But, I think I do need a break sometimes and this other album is giving me that. Lastly, I had to bring way too much back to school. Rather than overwhelm myself with all of these projects, I have decided one at a time is just as good as multitasking (actually it's probably better for me).
