Today's layout is a really fun splash of summer. The photo features a sign from one of our favorite places to get ice cream during summer! I hope you're all enjoying your summer because I sure am! I recently found out that one of my favorite ice cream shops will be under new ownership this summer and I hope the atmosphere doesn't change. When I received this stitchable tag from my Studio Calico grab bag sale I wanted to use it so badly! Finally, this photo stuck out to me and I know this was the one! I used some black thread to make the "RAD" portion more readable. This was where I started my layout and then I remembered that I had this little ice cream puffy sticker from Target! I'm so happy I finally got to use it, it's so cute! This sticker also inspired the background paper I chose which is from the Dear Lizzy Day Dreamer collection.

The 5 items I picked for the challenge this week include a set of Colorbox 12x12 papers, a Crate Paper sticker sheet, Studio 112 die-cut button borders, some Chatterbox die-cuts, and a KI Memories Berry Blast 6x6 paper pad. See the process of creating this design down below!



I hope you enjoyed my process video! In case you're wondering my process before the video actually starts is to pick a photo that I want to scrapbook and base my grab 5 off of that. So this photo of my cat Honey is pretty neutral color wise. I knew that I want to use up some of the papers by Colorbox because I have had them forever,  but this also inspired some of my other picks. It's important to not just get caught up in all of the new supplies, but to focus on the photo.


In the video, I mention something about the visual threes. On this layout, I used this technique to keep it visually pleasing to the eye. This triangle will help your eye move about the page. First, starting at the largest cluster (bottom right with title), then the two clusters by the photo. Sometimes you don't want to move the eye around the page as much as this, so don't feel like you always have to use the rule of threes on your pages. Do what you feel like! I might make a whole video on the different design techniques I like to use, so if you'd like to see a video on that comment down below!


I have recently began to constantly keep a section for journaling and the date on my layouts. Several years from now, I will have no idea when my Dad took this photo of our cat, but I'll want to know! I always journal after I take the final videos because I tend to journal on several of my completed pages at once.


I've recently seen in a bunch of the Facebook groups that I am a part of that people do a lot of purging. I'm not a huge purger. I suppose that maybe putting together my giveaways and present kits for others is how I purge. For example, I gifted a fun mini album kit to my friend Courtney for Christmas last year. It was a great way to pass along things that weren't really my style anymore. Do you purge your scrapbooking supplies ever? If so, how often?


Towards the end of the video, I mention how I should really start with some letter stickers in mind for my title. It was so hard for me to find letter stickers for this layout. I don't know why, I have a lot of letter stickers, but this color scheme was a different one for me, so I had to go with some neutrals! Do you guys start with a title in mind? Let me know! I use all types of glues: foam adhesive, tape runners, tear tape, and liquid glues! The glue you choose is essential for any crafty product. You want to make sure the glue you use is reliable and acid/lignin free. You may have to do some trials with different glues until you find the one that works best for you!


I tend to use my liquid adhesives for tiny bits or textured pieces. Things like wood veneer, buttons, strings, and paper flowers are a few.

Hello friends! I hope you all enjoyed the 4th of July (if you're in the USA)! Today I'm sharing a layout inspired by the classic red, white, and blue color scheme without the themed photos! Who says you can't use red, white, and blue on non-themed layouts? Here's an overview of the layout!


I really tried to capture my love for cats in this layout. While I'm at college and away from my cats at home, we go and visit the shelter cats up for adoption. I love visiting them! I suppose you could call me a crazy cat lady ;). This layout like I said earlier, features a red, white, and blue theme without having anything to do with the fourth of July. I think that it's important to note that you can use whatever color schemes you want and that certain ones are not for just certain occasions.


I started off this layout with some kraft paper and this pretty blue diagonal striped paper from Basic Grey's Fact & Fiction collection. I wanted to do something fun with the striped paper, so I ended up cutting two opposite corners off! Then to add more detail, I used some border strips on those edges as well. I used some really old K&Company papers behind my photo, then started to embellish!


I love embellishment clusters so much! This one uses felt from Oriental Trading, a butterfly from Michael's, an arrow from Michael's, a flag from Basic Grey, some stickers from Pretty Little Studio, and a few stickers from Teresa Collins - Hello My Name Is collection.


My layout title is a result from a Studio Calico tiny word sticker and some fun bingo chip like Thickers by American Crafts. I hope you enjoyed this layout and are inspired to use themed color schemes for non-themed layouts! Thanks for stopping by!

So this is how the layout ended up turning out - minimal mixed media compared to the tragic mixed media scene you will see in the video below. I used some polka dot purple paper from Target as my background mat and then some kraft cardstock as the base. You'll see how I create my photo layers in the video, but those papers are from Basic Grey - Wisteria and some tissue paper. I'll review the embellishments underneath the video, but enjoy my little disaster of a background.



Wasn't that disaster beautiful?! It was a good idea in theory, but the glitter really did me over. Lesson learned! Do you try to use glitter on layouts? It seems like dangerous territory, but I tried it anyway. I liked the way the layout ended up coming out at least! I'll keep the other background for future use, maybe.


The mixed media portion of this layout used my Heidi Swapp dot stencil and my gesso - because I can't afford modeling paste. This adorable wood veener is from Michael's and I'm glad I finally got to use it. I'm really into the look of wood veneers, so fresh. I used some of these adorable green felt pieces from Oriental Trading to boost it up.


I almost forgot that I added some gold Heidi Swapp color shine to my background too! That stuff is beautiful. I used a bunch of those felt pieces on this layout. I have them in some other colors, but I'm making my way through them! It's about bashing your stash this month ladies! I'm hoping to make a record setting number of layouts since I can't purchase anything, my own personal spending freeze.


To finish off this lovely spring layout I used a bunch of random gems and jewels as well as some Tim Holtz tiny word stickers. The photo on this layout is of one of my beloved kittens that loves to go on walks! I snapped this adorable photo of her in front of our hydrangea bush and needed to run with this purple and green color scheme. Does anyone remember when I mentioned that I never scrap in purple?! For some reason I cannot get enough of all of these pastel colors! I had printed a ton of photos from early spring and last spring and I am having a blast scrapbooking all of them! Today's layout features a fun grab five and three photos! I know that there is a huge trend with only one photo, but to be honest, I don't want 3,000 albums in the end. I'm trying to combine photos onto fewer pages without cramping them or making it ugly. So, today is all about that! Here's an overview of what I created.



My pick 5 consisted of Tim Holtz tiny word stickers (the holiday edition), a fun wood veneer glittered square from Project Life, a die-cut pack from Elle's Studio (Thankful bits and pieces), my brand new Citrus Bliss 6x6 paper pad (thanks Kate for sending it!), and last, but not least is my fun gold bunny cake toppers (only 59 cents!). So, that's what I used as my inspiration for this layout! I hope you all enjoy the process video that I've recorded for it. I'll have more detailed shots and products listed down below! If you guys liked when I actually found the products on amazon and listed the links I can start doing that again (but let me tell you, Amazon has some expensive prices!) I started with a 12x12 piece of patterned paper from the Sea Glass collection from Craft Smith (the Michael's hot buy papers) then used my Citrus Bliss 6x6 papers to give some more color to the layout by backing my photos with it. The border sticker through the middle of the layout which gives my photos some ground is by Jot (the dollar tree brand).


This is my favorite cluster on the whole page and I'm glad to have finally used one of these giant wood veneer pieces. I didn't want to draw anymore attention away from the photos than I already had, so I decided to use the "fun" as part of my title. I created a fun cluster to the left of my title to gather more interest. The bunny is from Wilton, the washi tape is from a friend, the butterfly is from Recollections, and the tiny word sticker is from Tim Holtz!


All of the photos are backed with some Citrus Bliss papers. I also used the paper pad to create the vertical border on the right side. This will help ground the photos. The cluster you see here it made up of Elle's Studio die cuts, Pretty Little Studio stickers, and some Tim Holtz tiny word stickers! I love the way the pink and the blue look together. It's the second layout I've made this month with this color scheme!


To complete the layout I used some of these Fancy Pants Office Suite die cuts and another tiny word sticker. I loved making a multi photo layout for once! I hope you all enjoyed, thank you so much for stopping by!

I tried another new color combo for my scrappy taste, but love the way it turned out! Mint and pink is all the rage in washi tapes and probably other things too, but I didn't think I owned many things in this color scheme. Seems as though I found enough to make a layout! The weirdest thing is, this paper by Kaiser Craft is more about love than cats, but the color was too perfect not to use.


The papers I used to mat under my photo are from DCWV - The Sweet Stack and one from KI Memories. The gray diagonal striped paper is from Prima - Hello Spring and I used a Recollections border punch. This photo is just a photo of my kitten named Honey playing underneath the curtains. She's so cute! I think this is a good opportunity to challenge you all to get a photo from a different perspective. I laid on the floor for this one, but there's plenty of options to try out! I hope you get some fun photos!




To finish off this layout I used a rub-on from American Crafts and some bling above a fun title. The pink alpha are Amy Tangerine Thickers, the lighter pink alpha stickers are from K&Company and the white alpha stickers are from Sticko, I hope you all enjoyed this layout, It was a fun color combo to work with! On this photo I used a wood veneer word that says imagine from Michael's, a white ticket rub-on from American Crafts, a blue chipboard tag from Heidi Grace, and a little star sticker from Pretty Little Studio. This photo shows my boyfriend, Sam, laying on the bed of nails! I was too chicken to do it.


I had a great time dressing up this filler card. The two die-cuts are from Shimelle, the word sticker is from Simple Stories - Carpe Diem, the washi tape is from the dollar store, and the blue enamel dot is from Jolee's Boutique. I absolutely loved the way this one turned out!


Just a simple bit of decoration on this journaling card. This adorable wood veneer light bulb is from Basic Grey and I incorporated the same washi throughout all of the pages. I think it's important to try to keep something similar over pages that go together. It'll really help it flow, even if the color scheme sorta changes!


This other simple filler card featured a die-cut from Elle's Studio and a label (as a layer) from Elle's Studio as well. To lighten up this layout, I used a white doily and some more blue gems.

 Last, but not least for this blog post is this really fun filler card I created.
