The otter is of course the star of this card, so I raised him up on foam dots. I used this Doodlebug Designs mini doily to give a pop of color behind my little friend. I think all otters should have names, so let's name this one Jerry. He's just waving hello to the birthday pal who will be receiving the card. I just cannot get over how cute this little guys are! To add another pop of color, I decided to watercolor a couple fish.


Lastly, to complete the card I added a sentiment strip. I used Memento black ink for the sentiment to get a crisp image. This was a really fun card to make and again I love the otters! Thank you so much for stopping by!

1) Organize and find a place for my photo albums

This goal has not made much progress from last month. I am visiting home currently and perhaps we can make some forward movement on finding places for my albums to live. I would estimate that I need room to house ten albums, at least ideally I would like to reach that number. Luckily, I don't have them all chock full yet, so there's room to grow. I do have to put my layouts that I have created this year away still, but maybe next month.

2) Complete 2 travel albums

I haven't had a chance to work on many projects this month, especially my travel albums. In addition, to the two travel albums I wanted to get done this year, we just took another vacation. While I don't plan on scrapbooking that trip this year, I am planning ahead on what album sized I would like to do (probably 6x8 or 9x12) and I'm already creating a plan to print the photos. So, there's a tiny bit of progress this month.

3) Follow at least 2 spending freezes

As I said last month, this goal is hard for me. I am now on two design teams and I do have to purchase items to showcase, so this isn't going as planned, but I have been limiting what I spend at Michael's and JoAnn's when I get an urge to shop. I'm also thinking I've giving my stash a little refresh by doing a purge (even though I just did a small purge in January). Out with the old and in with the new as they say.


4) Create more cards and have an organizational system for them

Another month and another card goal. I did make quite a few cards this month, but not as many as I wanted. I missed Saint Patrick's Day, so I might go back and create some for that holiday for next year. Up next is Easter, and I would love to make a bunch of notecards for my friends and family with a fun spring theme. Luckily, one of my design team duties over at Scrapbook Blessings Club is a monthly challenge that I like to apply to cards. I created 8 cards this month and I loved a lot of them! I have not made any progress on my organizational process though, still working on ideas for that. If you have a system that works for me, please let me know!

Hello everyone! I am sharing with you all a fun YouTube hop that I am a part of for my new Design Team membership to the Scrabook Blessings Club! Come hop along with us for a chance to win a great prize from our sponsor, A Day for Daisies!

I used heavy weight white cardstock from Darice to reduce the amount of warping with my mixed media. I used a bunch of Heidi Swapp color shine sprays to give a watercolored look. It is also very pearlized in some lights. I used the color patina, ocean, and mint during the packaging technique. I also used the color tea to make some splatters.


Once the mixed media was all dry (which took forever!), I started adding layers behind my photo. This photo is of my pup as a pup! It is a really cute Snapchat filter that recognized his face. I layered the photo on top of some white cardstock and then some blue solid colored cardstock. I kept the layers simple since I wanted the background mixed media portion to shine.


To the right of the photo, I used a Basic Grey washi strip. I created a cluster using a Fancy Pants die cut from their Office Suite collection, some Michael's washi tape, and some Echo Park enamel dots. One thing that I almost forgot to mention was that I used the Heidi Swapp tea color shine around the border of the entire layout. You can see it more clearly in the picture below.


To balance out the bottom right half of the layout, I created a small element for the top left. It is actually part of a Project Life card (3x4) from Michael's that I cut apart. I used a Recollections date stamp to add the date. I used Staz-on ink to get a great impression. There are also some more Echo Park enamel dots scattered around.


Lastly, is the title section! I used another 3x4 card (cut into an oval) on some foam. I used another label from Fancy Pants. I also used a Pretty Little Studio die cut ("love") as another component to layer. I hope you enjoyed this layout! I rarely do portrait oriented cards, but this one worked with the sentiment beautifully. I started with heavy weight 110 lb. white cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2". I wanted a kraft cardstock background with a small border of white. I cut the kraft cardstock down to 5 1/2" x 4". I used my Colorbox dark brown ink and this lovely stamp that my boyfriend bought me for Valentine's Day (it's from Michael's) to create a fun pattern.


I know that I have a ribbon problem. I don't use ribbon nearly enough, so I am determined to start using on most of my cards and other projects. If you have any tips or techniques using ribbon please let me know in the comments below. I'm always looking for new and fun ideas. The ribbon I used on this card is part of a set from Michael's. I used the same ink to stamp this fun sentiment from Kaiser Craft. It's perfect for so many occasions!

Hello friends and welcome back to my blog! I have a fun mixed media project to share with you this week. I think that everyone likes a little bit of a challenge to stretch their creative muscles. I like to do pick 5 challenges where I challenge myself to use things from my stash on one layout. It is an easy way to get certain items used up or tried out for the first time!


Once I was done messing around with my gelato background, I used the Echo Park stencil to add more texture. The Heidi Swapp gold texture paste does not match her color shine line (as you can see in some of the photos). However, I wouldn't say that they necessarily clash either.


I kept my embellishing very, very minimal on this layout, as I do with most layouts. I wanted the background and the photo to take center stage. Once I add my journaling it will look a little bit more full as well. This butterfly die cut piece is from the We R Memory Keepers Flower Girl collection. It was the perfect color and fit the theme wonderfully.


One of my favorite elements of this layout is the weave looking background behind my photo. If you watched the process video you'll know how I pulled off this little secret using the 6x6 paper pad. This technique will also be featured in my 6x6 Fix series on my YouTube channel.


Lastly, I created a small cluster in the bottom right. This little puffy owl sticker is the cutest! He is from EK Success and he fit so well. I hope you enjoyed this mixed media pick 5! Thanks for stopping by!

I really wanted to use some of my detailed trims that I have laying around, so I did this! It hangs just off the side of the front flap. I think it makes it unique to other cards. On top of the base, I put on my layers. I used white, yellow, and orange cardstock cut to various sizes. I would tell you all of the sizes, but I don't really remember. Adding these layers makes the card pop!


I used a stamp set from Whimsy Stamps and it has a lot of fruit puns! It is so, so cute! I started by stamping their circle label stamp and then punched it out with a Fiskars scalloped circle punch. It was the perfect fit. Then, I used a yellow Whisper ink pad to stamp my lemon. I realized after making this card that I really need a better yellow ink pad. If you have any recommendations for the perfect yellow please let me know! I took some orange embroidery thread and bundled it up beneath the main element.


Lastly, I layered a piece of patterned orange washi tape beneath my sentiment strip. This washi tape reminded me of citrus fruits, so I thought it would be a great addition. Hi friends and welcome back to another card creation share! There will be a lot of cards coming up on the blog because I am on a roll! Be sure to head over to my YouTube channel to catch more layouts and other projects. Now let's jump in to this one layered stamped card!



I first started by centering the main sentiment. I used a Whisper ink to get a tone on tone stamping look. I noticed that the pink ink I had chosen wasn't the exact color I wanted, so I stamped it multiple times to get a darker look. For this method, the stamping tool is particularly helpful. I also want to note that the "happy and the "birthday" are separate stamps which makes them even more versatile. I was able to overlap them the way I wanted to.


After the main sentiment was done, I wanted to make a sub-sentiment border. Luckily, this stamp set comes with tons of options to go with happy birthday cards. I specifically used coordinating sentiments like "blow out the candles", "wishes for you on your big day", and "eat cake, make a wish & celebrate". There are other examples in the set, but I wanted the border to be as even as possible. I stamped the border with my stamp tool using the same ink as well.


Lastly, to complete the card, I used two sizes of clear sequins. These are both from Darice and they're perfect for any card! I scattered these in a diagonal pattern from the top left to the bottom right. That is it for this card. I love how it ended up turning out and it would be easy to replicate in a multitude of colors! I started this layout by grabbing four 6x6 patterned papers. I used pieces from Crate Paper's Notes and Things, KI Memories' Berry Celebration, Pebbles' Valentine's Day Collection, and Prima's Pastel collection. Mixing and matching papers is so much fun for me. Once I had them picked out, I cut them into 5 inch frames. Feel free to make your frames any size you would like! This layout has a base of gray paper from Oriental Trading. It is super thin, but I love this shade of gray. I laid my frames into a diagonal pattern, but you can do so many different arrangements! Maybe I'll do an overlapping one next! For the red frame, I decided it was a little too plain. To add some pizzazz, I used my Amy Tangerine piercing kit to add some hand stitching. It is by far from perfect, but I like it.


Then, I worked on the bottom left cluster. I started with an Elle's Studio tag die cut, a We R Memory Keepers floral die cut from their Flower Girl Collection and a chipboard piece from Dear Lizzy. These are the main components of this cluster. I also added a Cosmo Cricket clear sticker, two Jillibean Soup word stickers, and a couple Echo Park enamel dots from their Metropolitan Girl collection.


I balanced the bottom left cluster by creating a cluster to the right of the photo. This cluster revolves around another We R Memory Keepers die cut. I put this one on some foam to give it dimension. I used another Cosmo Cricket clear sticker to tie in the other one. Lastly for this cluster, I added more matching enamel dots.


You'll never guess what one of these layers behind my photo is! The polka dot pattern to the left of the photo is actually a piece of packaging from the Target dollar spot. I loved the polka dots a lot and they matched my color scheme well. So, I used that, a yellow scrap, and a Freckled Fawn doily to make a beautiful photo layer set.


To complete this layout I needed a title! This one perfectly describes the photo and aligns with the journaling I added later. I started with a "favorite" sticker from Jillibean Soup. Then, I pulled out a set of pink chipboard/canvas American Crafts thickers to spell "toy". Finally, I used Heidi Swapp glitter letter stickers to spell "her". This layout came together fairly quickly for it being something so different than anything I've ever done. I hope you enjoyed another 6x6 Fi episode! Thanks for stopping by!

I first got a piece of white cardstock and cut it to be the size of my card front (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). Next, I needed to cut out a stencil for the size of my hill. I used a scrap piece of patterned paper and free handed a hill shape. I used my Lucky Clover distress ink mini to blend a beautiful hill. I used my LePen fine tip marker to add details to my hill.


Next, I used a Hero Arts stamp set to stamp this adorable dog and his balloon. I lightly watercolored him in. Be sure to use water safe ink! Next, I had to add a sentiment. I wanted it to be big and bold. I used a KaiserCraft stamp set and made this beautiful blue banner. I added a little more flair by cutting a fish tail into the end. This always adds the perfect touch!


To complete this easy card, I used my LePen market again to draw some clouds. I love that the clouds sort of match the animation of the rest of the card. I trimmed them out and scattered them around the top. I mounted the card front to a card base, A2 sized of course! Then, the card was complete! Just a cute card to extend some stamp life. Once I was done stenciling the main section. I used two Scotch brand washi tapes to bring in some pink. I then stamped these adorable otters from My Favorite Things. I cannot believe how cute they are. I used my Hampton Arts Stamp Perfect tool to get dark impressions with my Staz On ink. I lightly watercolored them with gray and fussy cut them out!


What I really love about the Art C stencil I used is that it had adhesive on the back. This made it so much easier to make heavy layers of ink. Distress inks are particularly great for this method because the color will keep intensifying. So, the more layers you add the more vibrant it will become. I did a very light stencil pattern with my triangular stencil to add a subtle pattern to the background.


I also really liked the color combo of this green and pink. I used a Recollections pink doily behind my stenciled cardstock. I also included some Michael's brand enamel dots and Darice white sequins scattered about. These help move the eye along the page.


Lastly, I wanted to give you guys one more fun stenciling tip. Mimic the stenciling on the front of your card on the inside as well! This makes it really cohesive and pulls it together. Since this was a pick 5 challenge, I wanted to select some things that were new and some that were old. Starting with the older items, I picked a mason jar stamp from Michael's, a Heidi Grace chipboard accent set, and a DCWV paper pad called "The Green Stack". Two newer items that I picked were Jen Hadfield puffy stickers and a set of Pretty Little Studio feather stickers. Let's jump in to the process of this fun pocket page spread!


This was a fun creative challenge for me to take on. As you can see, I kept the photo clusters very simple and focused mainly on the right side. I've never worked with anything in a size comparable to 6 x 12. If you're feeling in the bit of a rut, you should try a new size to give your creative juices a fun workout. At least, that helps for me a lot of the time.


I created a small cluster in the top left portion of the upper left photo. I wanted a couple little journaling spots across the layout which you'll be able to see in the full spread. This cluster starts with a strip of Scotch blue washi tape. I then layered a journaling circle from Fancy Pants Designs's Office Suite collection. On top of that I used a wood veneer heart outline from Maggie Holmes, one of the Heidi Grace chipboard pieces, and some Echo Park enamel dots. A perfect little combo for this area of negative space on a photo.


My favorite part of this layout is the cluster I created on the 6" x 12" section. I knew that I wanted the main portion to be this mason jar stamp. I took some KI Memories paper and stamped it on with Staz On black ink. I layered that on top of a Recollections doily. I knew that this section needed more color. I took the same washi tape as I mentioned before and laid a strip down as a base. I also layered another Fancy Pants die cut on top of that. I used a couple of the Jen Hadfield puffy stickers here to add dimension.


I added some more detail with the Pretty Little Studio feather stickers. They are just tucked next to the jar. I wanted something lighter in this cluster so I decided to add some Tim Holtz phrase stickers. I also managed to tuck in a small Pebbles Inc floral die cut. Layering simple things like this makes layouts very interesting to the eye.


This crazy title was fun to put together. I used a wood veneer banner from the same Maggie Holmes collection to write "welcome" on. I then used my tiny Teresa Collins stickers, then some American Crafts thickers in the font Rootbeer Float, and lastly some old sparkly foam stickers from EK Success.
