How to Create a Kit from your Stash! // #5 Embellishments!
April 21, 2016
Happy day! Today we're diving in to the next section of the Create a Kit from your Stash series! Can you believe we're almost done? I hope you're having fun making kits and bashing your stash! If you missed out on the beginning of this series, check it out here! So, let's dive into all of our embellishments and get to making our kits!
So many embellishments!! They are so much fun to pick out! Probably one of the best parts of making a kit from your stash. I'll go into a little bit further detail down below in case I missed anything or you don't have time to listen to me ramble. ;)
1.) Die-cuts & Chipboard
We all have wayyyy too many die-cuts in our stashes. I choose some fun ones from different packs to use on my layouts. Always focusing on colors to pick things out to match my kit. Also, don't worry if it's not a perfect match. it'll still work. The same goes for the chipboard pieces. Pull out what you think matches and get going on some layouts! I don't recommend putting in over 30 pieces of ephemra though (unless you're one of those people who makes those beautifully ornate pieces with all of the layering of ephemra because you can add as much as you'd like)!
2.) Buttons, Brads, Enamel Dots Oh my!
You name it, we all have it. Whether it be gems, jewels, enamel dots, pearls, brads, washers, or buttons we each have our own fair share. It is time to finally use some of those beauties up! I think that in order to get the most out of your kit, you might want to keep it simple. I chose three different sheets of gems/pearls for my layouts (and I've already used up one!!). This is the perfect number for me so I can use a good amount of these sheets up. I added a whole container of buttons to my kit and have already used some of those as well. It's really a matter of taste. You may want three sheets of enamel dots, one or two buttons, or just a bunch of brads. Just give yourself an opportunity to use some things up, but don't overwhelm yourself.
3.) Ribbons, Twines, and Washi
I always love how cheap ribbons are on clearance and continue to purchase more! Now is the time to get some out of your stash and into your kit! For all of you collectors of washi out there, this is the perfect opportunity to pull out a few of those beautiful rolls and start using them on a layout! This category could be really big for some people, so pull as many for your kit as your heart desires. I didn't pull out many, but can always go to my stash if I need more.
4.) Wood Veneers, Cork, and texture embellishments
I am head over heels for wood veneers. I think they add beautiful texture and dimension to my pages. If you're in love with dimensional and textured embellishments like I am, then let's get them out! Pick out some of those pretties that you've been wanting to use and now you can finally use them! Just don't try to add all of them to your stash!
I hope you all enjoyed this installment of the Create a Kit from your Stash series! One more video until we move on to the process videos! Get excited!! Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll see you guys soon!
