VIDEO: Holiday Pick 5 Pt. 2 // Pocket Page Process Video

December 10, 2016

Welcome back to the blog! Today, I am sharing the second part of my Christmas pick 5 videos! If you missed the first one, check it out here! This is the accompanying page to that traditional layout, but using the same products in a few different ways. If any of you have blogs and take photos of your pocket page layouts, please tell me your secrets! I have so many issues with glare from the page protector. Let's hop into the details now.

This is the classic Becky Higgins Project Life page protector. I always buy the giant multi pack, so I'm not sure the design letter. My items for the pick 5 are the same as last round, but here's a recap. I chose some wood veneer snowflakes, and EK Success sleigh punch, a DCWV colored cardstock paper pad, a Studio G sticker set, and the DCWV Winter & Christmas patterned paper stack. A lot of fun and different elements that have been sitting in my stash for too long! I challenge you to use some older Christmas supplies for your holiday projects this season. Feel free to tag me on Instagram using GrayFlorals so I can see your creations! Now onto the process video!

As you might have been able to tell, this is one of my longer process videos, but I hope you enjoyed it! I treat each little filler or journaling card as its own masterpiece. In the video you'll see that I jump around a little bit, but I tend to work on each one, then move on to the next and so fourth.

One of my favorite cards on this layout is this one. It features one of  the new flair pieces I received from Paper & Spool and has a lot of extra texture. It starts off with a polka dot patterned paper from DCWV that I cut down to 3" x 4". Next, I used some of the DCWV cardstock and a 2" circle punch and layered that pop of a color under a Recollections doily. I wanted this card to be a secondary title card or a subtitle card, so I used some Tim Holtz tiny alphabet stickers on top of a punched ticket. Beneath that I made a small cluster of wood veneer gifts which I believe might be from Elle's Studio (not 100% sure). I also included a small twirl of twine tucked under the gift pieces. To complete this card, I used various sizes of gold sequins.

Jumping up to the top row, I made a filler card using another one of the cute wood veneer presents. This card in particular uses quite a few stickers. The two trees are from a sticker book that I picked up from Michael's. Then, as a base for those items to sit upon is a We R Memory Keepers Type Set label sticker. The background paper for this card is from DCWV again.

Now, hopping back to the bottom row, I created another filler card (surprise, surprise)! This one has some fun polka dot washi tape that has been in my stash forever. I used my scalloped circle punch to add a little bit of backing behind the wood veneer snowflake. I wanted to jazz up this card some more so I included a sticker from the Studio G set and a puffy white arrow sticker from Paper House. I'm really addicted to puffy stickers lately.

Every pocket page layout needs a place for journaling! This simple card was made by using a journaling spot stamp set by Autumn Leaves that is probably circa 2009. It's one of my oldest and most useful stamp sets. To dress up the journaling card I used a little raccoon sticker on top of some Target washi tape. I wanted to included this wood veneer word that says "peace" to give this card more substance. Of course this card needed sequins for a finishing touch and last minute I decided to include some star brads. Brads are a great alternative for enamel dots or other finishing bits.

Oh look, another filler card! This one features the punch from the pick 5 out of some colored cardstock. I layered the punch out with a puffy sticker from the same Paper House set. These sit on top of some more diagonal washi tape and another We R Memory Keepers label. A simple filler card, but allows for additional journaling.

To finish off this spectacular layout, I have the title card. I used green cardstock as a border for this plaid patterned paper. I used a plain white tag from 7 Gypsies to help my wood veneer snowflakes pop more. The simple title for this page is "Holiday Gifts", nothing too fancy. I finished this card as well with various sizes of gold sequins. I hope you enjoyed my double round of holiday pick 5! Let me know what type of videos and projects you would like to see in the new year. Thanks for stopping by!
