I miss you // Card Creations

June 29, 2017

Hello crafty friends! It's time for another card creation share! Today I decided to try a new technique as well as use this very bright and colorful paper I have had in my stash. Since it is so colorful I had a hard time figuring out how to use it. Let's dive in to more details about this card.

I have a card base made from 110 lb. white cardstock that is cut to be A2 sized (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"). I then cut my busy yet beautiful striped paper to 4" x 5 1/4" as my background. I needed a way to tone down the vibrancy of the card so my sentiment could still stand out. I used a set of Echo Park scalloped circle dies to do this fun technique. I essentially used them as an embossing plate instead of diecutting. To achieve this look, you make a sandwich with a foam bottom, so the die impresses, but doesn't cut all the way through your paper. I then used my largest circle die from Spellbinders to cut out the embossed piece. This adds so much detail without a whole lot of work.

I then combined two stamp sets for my card. I used a Mama Elephant pupper to create this little scottie. I simple stamped him and watercolored him. Then, I used my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen to add some shine to the envelope. I then used a stamp from Sweet Stamp Shop to create the sentiment portion. I think these two fit flawlessly together. I would imagine that this is exactly how dogs talk sometimes.

After assembling those components I needed some more bursts of color to break up the white circle. I dug through my enamel dots and found so many colors that would match this beautiful paper. I used some from Echo Park, Carta Bella, Whimsy Stamps, and Freckled Fawn. I hope you enjoyed this splash of color card. Thanks for stopping by!
