VIDEO: Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens Galaxy Backgrounds // Card Creations

March 08, 2018

Hello there crafty people! I am back with a long overdue and highly requested tutorial! I am sharing a tutorial on how I create galaxy backgrounds using my Zig Markers! The video tutorial is below so you can learn how I create the galaxy backgrounds, but here on the blog I'll be sharing with you some cards I made using my backgrounds!

The first card features this expanding universe theme. I used a small piece of the galaxy background by diecutting it with a stitched tag die from my stash. It provides the perfect pop of color. I layered my space scene on top of the tag and set it aside. To learn how I colored these fun images, check out last month's live stream!

Next up was to work on the black background. I had this weird shaped piece of white cardstock leftover to make an odd shaped card. I cut down a black paper mat to go with it and it was a little too plain. I pulled out my My Favorite Things Space Explorer stamp set and made a fun background! I stamped them with Versamark ink and heat set them with clear WOW! Embossing powder. I sprinkled several silver metallic stars around the background to give the idea of space.

I love how the first card turned out, but I also love the second card! I used a stitched rectangle die on my galaxy background again. Since the galaxy element was smaller than the A2 sized card panel, I had to get a piece of patterned paper to go behind it. I decided on this constellation paper from Echo Park Just Be You 6x6 paper pad. It worked out great! I then started to build my scene.

I had all of these adorable images and wasn't sure how to place them. I decided to give my space girl a tether from her space ship which worked perfectly for the horizontal card. I also place a little Saturn planet off in the distance. And of course, this one needed some stars as well!

As you can see, some of the images are on foam dots to help fit the twine tether underneath more easily. But that's it for these cards! There are so many ways to do galaxies and I hope you guys enjoyed my video tutorial. If you have more questions or want to see more techniques let me know! Thank you for stopping by!
