When it comes to double page layouts and using 4x6 photos, I often find that I gravitate towards a strip design. I did that in my first Double Take episode and in this one. If you aren't a huge fan of this style or you've already seemed to have it done it a million times, don't worry I have more ideas in the works! The color scheme for this spread was based on the beautiful colors of the house. Luckily, I had the perfect paper to match it! The floral paper at the bottom of the pages is from Echo Park's Flora No. 1 collection. I don't have much of the collection, but the little bit that I have collected I have been hoarding!


In double page layouts, I want the photos to be the star, but I can't help but include some awesome clustering! I created this large cluster in a part of my photo layout that left an awkward gap. By filling it with unique shapes like the doily, circles, and ornate edges, it gives a more organic look to the cluster and leaves it feeling much less blocky. You can also notice that some of the layered pieces are on top of the photo and under the photo. This helps integrate the cluster as a continuation of the design.


Everything needs balance. I created this teeny tiny cluster at the top left to do a couple of things. One, it pushes your eyes back in to the layout and not off the page. Two, it almost immediately directs you to the title. Three, It helps make the green cardstock feel more cohesive with the design. Clusters serve a lot more purposes than just looking pretty if you truly think about it.

I have used a bunch of old stickers from my stash from brands like We R Memory Keepers, Simple Stories, Jot, Echo Park, and more.


There's a lot of little details both in the photos and on the layout it self. I love all of my doilies and the vintagey items I incorporated. I never knew what I would use the acrylic swan that I picked up from Clique Kits, but it oddly goes well with this layout! The title is fairly simple. I used a ton of the alphas from the Flora No.1 sticker sheet plus some Pink Fresh Studio gold stickers. To add some extra dimension I used a flair that says "the" from Paper & Spool.


While this layout isn't the style I usually scrap, I do love the way it turned out! If you watched some of my super old videos (Circa 2009) you'll know I used to love the vintage look! I wish I had more of those papers still for the rest of these layouts! Anywho, I hope you enjoyed this Double Take episode.
