VIDEO: Stamping Collab with Marloes - The Dutch Scrapper // Such a Cute Kitten

July 19, 2016

Hi friends! Today I am doing something completely new! I have teamed up with Marloes from The Dutch Scrapper to perform a Stamping Challenge! Marloes is doing a really fun month of videos over on her channel and she asked me if I wanted to join in on the challenge and I had to say yes! We decided to both make layouts with a focus point of stamping. I have way too many stamps for my own good, so I'm glad I got to use some that I've never had the chance to use yet. So, join us as we share our stamping creations with you!

Here's my layout. It features a photo of my little kitten and she is so cute! I managed to use 7 different stamps on this layout! Check out my process video below and Marloes video!

I hope you enjoyed the process and now I'll dive into some more details. Don't forget to check out Marloes' video! I'll have product links at the end of this post for products that I've used!

I decided that since this was a stamping challenge, I would also do a little bit of mixed media. I prepped my background paper from Basic Grey with some clear gesso. Once dried, I took out a piece of packaging to do the packaging technique. This is when you take a piece of plastic and put some color on it, dilute it with a little bit of water, and smoosh it on to the page. I used an October Afternoon sprinklers in a dark blue (I'll try and link the exact color down below). Priming your paper with gesso will help the color move around better and help the paper not warp.

I then backed my photo with a piece of Prima paper from the Introspection 6x6 pad. I knew I also wanted to use this fun square Freckled Fawn doily. I set those layers aside and started pulling out some stamps. I knew I wanted to use this fun set of frame stamps from Doodle Bug Designs. Once I had them in place, I stamped them using my Staz-on ink. I later on use some stamps from Inkadinkado, Project Life, and Avery Elle.

I added this fun tab from Elle's Studio behind my photo to bring in some more blues, I also sneaked in a little black tag to the right of that just to bring in some more contrast. The bottom right cluster consists of an iron on bow patch, some washi tape, a Simple Stories burlap heart, a Martha Stewart punched butterfly, and a Tim Holtz tiny word sticker. In the top left hand cluster, I used my Echo Park dies to cut out the large butterfly, then add a Simple Stories Carpe Diem word sticker and a Crate Paper little heart sticker.

To finish off this layout, I used a gray October Afternoon sprinklers to add some splatters. My title is made out of some Teresa Collins tiny type and some Thickers in the umbrella font. I hope you all enjoyed this challenge. Join us on Facebook in the Young Scrappers group for more fun! Check out Marloes' videos!
