VIDEO: Double Pocket Page Spread Process using Minimal Supplies // The Great Outdoors

September 10, 2016

Hello all! Today I have a double pocket page spread using minimal supplies. So, if you're tight on a budget, don't have many supplies, or just prefer to have a more minimalist look then you're in the perfect place! Here's the overview of the first half of the double page spread.

So, as I mentioned before, this was a very minimalist layout when it comes to embellishing. However, this is also a great example on how you can fit a TON of photos into a double paged spread. This is one of the simplest forms of scrapbooking that I have ever done and it makes me feel less pressured to make everything look like a work of art. Here's the process video for my double page layout and I hope you enjoy!

In the process video I talk about how I stuck with few types of embellishments so I don't overwhelm the photos. Fitting 10 photos on a page can also just be very overwhelming to the crafter, so placement is key. You want to make sure you don't put clashing photos next to each other and don't make one side heavier than the other. Mainly, we're striving for balance across both layouts.

Since I only had two slots open in my pocket page templates to place cards, I decided to make one a title card and one a journaling card. I decided to put these next to eachother (across the spread of the page) because I like the way they brought both pages together. The title card is based with a We R Memory Keepers 4x6 card from their Albums Made Easy series. I also laid a strip of some gold diagonal stripe washi tape down. Then placed my title piece and a few other embellishments on.

I did a few clusters of embellishments on a select few photos on these layouts. Don't be afraid to put things in the dead space or white space of your photos! It can add a great effect and help move the eye around the page. In my clusters I continued to use some Martha Stewart chipboard stickers (the same as my title piece), some white enamel dots, and even some tiny word stickers.

As for the second half of the double layout, it's almost a mirror image of the other side. This side contains the journaling card (full of journaling of course) and some more photos with clusters of embellishments.

On these clusters I also incorporated the same Martha Stewart chipboard stickers as well as some My Mind's Eye label stickers, and some Studio Calico wood veneer birds. I liked incorporating the wood pieces to bring out the natural parts of the photos.

That pretty much wraps up this double page spread! If you have any questions please let me know! I have some product links down below in case you were looking for any of these products. Thanks for stopping by!
