VIDEO: Living the Good Life // 12x12 Layout Process
September 24, 2016
Hi everyone! I had a pleasure creating this layout! Since it is now officially autumn, I'm becoming inspired by all of the autumnal things! Autumn is one of my favorite seasons (I love all of the seasons to be honest). This floral paper from Crate Paper's Story Teller line is the perfect transition paper from summer to autumn. I love the cream colors, the mustard yellow, navy, a deep red, and the light blue. They all balance so beautifully. Although I didn't have any autumn photos to scrapbook I still wanted to dive in, so I selected these adorable photos of my pup falling asleep on the sofa. Here's the entire layout!
Not only do I love autumn colors, but I also love the feelings of fall. The feeling of comfort and warmth of hot drinks, soft blankets, and coming together with family. This layout doesn't exactly capture those feelings, but it does have the colors of autumn! I hope you enjoy this process video for this layout!
I didn't expect the layout to turn out quite as autumnal as it did, but I really like it. To start off, I took my Crate Paper floral and trimmed it down 1/2" on each side. Then, I matted the patterned paper on to this cream/brown colored textured cardstock from Colorbox. I think that this is a really great way to use up all of that cardstock in your stash! Sometimes a layout just needs a border to stay contained and not "run off the page" as some people say.
I matted the left photo with a blue ledger pattern from Pebbles Garden Party and the right photo with a We R Memory Keepers album card. Also, from We R Memory Keepers are the two mustard elements (the scalloped circle and the date banner). Under the title circle, I slipped in a doily and a burlap arrow from Simple Stories. In all of my clusters I included a few if these pearls from BoBunny's Modern Miss collection.
Towards the end of my process, I realize that I want something more underneath the photos as it seems a little bit blank. So, I found this beautiful scalloped trim in the perfect shade of yellow. In the bottom right photo cluster, I added a fun Simple Stories word sticker. Then, I wanted to create a little label spot for my pup's name. I used my EK Success ticket punch and punched a scrap grid paper piece and then used some Studio Calico color theory vellum letter stickers. This final cluster will help complete the visual triangle on my page.
I snuck a tiny bag from the Paper Studio underneath my photo as a hidden journaling spot. The tag I used for my journaling is from the Michael's dollar spot from a while back. To complete this lovely autumnal layout I used my Heidi Swapp color shine in peacock (which I end up not liking) and October Afternoon's sprinklers in night sky. Thank you so much for watching another one of my process videos! I hope you enjoyed the first of what I hope is many autumnal layouts for this season. Thanks for stopping by!
