VIDEO: Hello Sunshine - Sunset Distress Ink Background // Card Creations

February 27, 2018

Hello crafty people! Today we have a card video!! It seems like these always get pushed to the wayside when it comes to my video schedule, but I have one I can finally share with you! While I'm not confident in my ability to instruct how to make a multi-step card or filming it, I love the way they turn out! So, bear with me while I get the hang of filming these types of videos. If you have suggestions or tips please share them down below.

This card features the Polynesian stamp set from My Favorite Things. If you couldn't tell, I'm absolutely obsessed with coloring their images right now. To find out how I colored the cut out images on this card, check out my stamp and color live stream! If you have any specific questions let me know! Check out the video down below to see how I built the card.

The awesome background starts with Canson XL Watercolor Paper. This is a tiny bit smaller than 4" x 5 1/4" since I am trying to use up my scrap pieces. I put a splotchy layer of Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink on the background. I wanted it to be a little spotty since this would help give the appearance of clouds in the distance. I then used two stencils from Heidi Swapp to create the sun rays. I made sure to use a darker color, Mustard Seed to add more contrast. I also added a tiny bit of Carved Pumpkin to the center of the sun for more contrast.

Then we just build the card together! The sand patterned paper from DCWV is absolutely perfect for beaches. I cut a thin strip of that to put under my hula girl's feet. (Also, don't mind her green face, there was a coloring accident! O:). The sentiment on the sand was stamped in Versafine Black Ink. Which is my current favorite ink for everything!

I also stamped a sentiment on the inside because these sayings are just too cute. I paired it with a little golden pineapple for a fun burst of color. I have really been into finishing the insides of my cards lately with more stamping or even as simple as a strip of washi tape along the bottom. It truly adds the finishing touch! I hope you all enjoyed the return of my card making videos! If you'd like to see more please let me know. Thanks for stopping by!
