VIDEO: Using Memorabilia on your Pages // Imagine That!

July 23, 2016

Hi folks! Welcome back or if you're new, welcome! Today I am bringing you a new series that I am really excited about! As memorykeepers we are in charge of documenting the story including having all of those little mementos we couldn't throw away. Hopefully this series will not only challenge me to use more mementos in different ways in my scrapbooking, but to encourage you to use it in your layouts as well! Here's my layout that I am sharing today.

In the video, I explain what this new series will entail and I am so excited to go on this journey with you all! Without further ado, let's jump into the video!

I use a piece of patterned paper from Little Yellow Bicycle that I have been hoarding forever! It is just so pretty, but I've put it to good use. This layout also features a K & Company Smash Book pocket, some neon orange washi tape, a fun doily, and a piece of paper from KI Memories Berry Blast 6x6 paper pad. Although this layout is simple embellishment wise, it's still very visually heavy. It's important to remember that memorabilia is sometimes very busy and we can't go full out on embellishing. So, just be aware of your mementos before you go running around with your embellishments!

On this layout I have included three pieces of memorabilia and one photo. Sometimes you'll have more memorabilia than photos and sometimes it'll be the other way around. I will talk in future videos about using a lot of photos and a little bit of memorabilia on layouts too. This layout mainly focuses on the pocket method. I'll have some product links below to some different pockets on the market that you may be interested in using for incorporating your mementos. There are also easy ways to make your own pockets (check out Pinterest and YouTube for tutorials). On this layout I also included these badges. I'm glad I had two so I could show both the front and the back of them.

In this video, I also talk about making your pages interactive and teaching those who look at your album to interact with them. It won't be an effective interactive book if no one knows how to use it! So, incorporate your pockets and flips and fold outs, but be sure to show people! I hope you enjoyed this first installment of using memorabilia! Don't forget to come back and check for more!
