Big Dipper! // 12x12 Layout Share!

July 14, 2016

Today's layout is a really fun splash of summer. The photo features a sign from one of our favorite places to get ice cream during summer! I hope you're all enjoying your summer because I sure am! I recently found out that one of my favorite ice cream shops will be under new ownership this summer and I hope the atmosphere doesn't change. Here's the layout I created to capture one of our favorite spots! Do you scrapbook about your favorite places?

When I received this stitchable tag from my Studio Calico grab bag sale I wanted to use it so badly! Finally, this photo stuck out to me and I know this was the one! I used some black thread to make the "RAD" portion more readable. This was where I started my layout and then I remembered that I had this little ice cream puffy sticker from Target! I'm so happy I finally got to use it, it's so cute! This sticker also inspired the background paper I chose which is from the Dear Lizzy Day Dreamer collection.

Since I had such a busy bottom portion going on I deiced that I didn't want too many paper layers behind my photo, so I just used some pieces from KI Memories to give the photo a little pop. Next, I remembered I had some Basic Grey banners that were yellow and decided to drape that behind my photo. I realized that this kind of blended in with the background so I used some washi tape to help it not blend in so much. I knew that I wanted some journaling on this layout because a sign doesn't really explain the story haha! The stamp I used to create the journaling lines is from Autumn Leaves ( a very old stamp set). I put in a fun yellow eyelet to make the hole not look naked.

To finish off the layout, I added my title using some block stickers and added a cluster in the top left corner to give a little balance. I added some smaller embellishments around the main cluster as well. The flair button is from Studio Calico, the paper clip is from KI Memories, the jewels are from Darice, and the flower pin is from Little Yellow Bicycle! I hope you enjoyed this layout and get inspired for more summer layouts! Thanks for stopping by! :)
