I have been really in to making kraft colored card bases lately. I just feel like it goes with the theme of the card! This blog post will not be as detailed as my video is. However, I'll go in to more of the product details and how I put the card together here. There are so, so, so many different ways to get color on to paper. My first recommendation when trying to watercolor, use watercolor paper. That was my first mistake! Since moving, I've realized there are quite a few products I have accidentally left at home and have had yet to replace here in the new place. If you use watercolor paper you are more likely to get some brighter results. I also do nontraditional techniques with watercoloring, but you saw all of that in the video.


I love doing this background technique on simple cards. I use some of my geometric die sets to make these repetitive embossed backgrounds. It is very simple to do, all you need is foam and a special machine sandwich. You'll see more details on that in the video as well. These hexagon dies are from Echo Park.


After the background was embossed, I picked out the perfect sentiment to go as the centerpiece. This little strip is from the Craft Smith paper pad from Michaels. I am in love with it! I took the punched out leaves and placed them in a graceful falling pattern on the card. I love the variation of the watercolor leaves.


To finish this card, I used some gold sequins scattered about. I love using multi sized sequins. These ones are some from my stash. I hope you enjoyed this video tutorial and card. Thanks for stopping by!
