The Grads // Pocket Page Share

August 16, 2016

I've got a photo heavy pocket page to share with you all this week! I often times find myself wanting to embellish overload, but I took a simple approach to this embellishment light layout. As you can see from the overview of the project below, these photos look very, very alike in nature. We're all wearing the same outfits and it is very overwhelming due to so much repetition. When having photos with repetition like this the placement of your photos is very, very important! As you can see, I put two photos sitting in the left column towards the bottom and then two photos in the right hand column towards the top. This help creates movement in the layout and breaks up a huge block of repetition.

As you can identify, there is only one filler card and then the title card. We'll take a look at those beauties in a little bit down below, but I wanted to point out how I separated them on this layout. Again, to help break up the heaviness of the repetition, spacing out the unique things helps out quite a bit.

My title card uses two alphabet sticker sets. The first is a set from K & Company and the gray foam letters are from Hobby Lobby and their Paper Studio line. I cut down a piece of paper from the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss 6x6 paper pad (links below to purchase) as my base for this section. I realized that the background felt a little plain, so I decided to dig through my stamps and find something to spice it up! I found a stamp set that I had forever from Pebbles that I have never opened...whoops! I could only find one retailer that carries it still. I used this fun star cluster from the set in some Avery Elle gray pigment ink. It adds the perfect touch to the background of this card. Of course I also had to add some gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine splatters. To complete the card I wrote the year, added a few Doodlebug Sprinkles and a couple wood veneer stars.

Finally, to give the layout a little breathing room I made this filler card. The background is a piece of Doodlebug Patriotic paper from their 6x6 pad. I thought these clouds were perfect to go with the theme of the page which is basically pursue your dreams. I created a corner cluster on this card containing a doily, an ampersand from my stash, a Cosmo Cricket camera sticker, some gold foil washi tape, and of course some Simple Stories tiny word stickers! Overall, this layout was simple, but it still packs a punch! I hope you enjoyed this pocket page, be sure to tell me what you think in the comments below!
