VIDEO: Pick 5! // Sky Chiefs Mixed Media Layout Process
August 20, 2016
I have been loving all of the summer memories I have been making. Although summer is practically over ( sad face), I will be reminiscing at all of these pages! Today I am scrapping a few photos from a baseball game we attended in July. It was a lot of fun! If you guys have any suggestions for future posts, questions, or just want to leave a comment feel free to do so! I love reading all of your comments! Tell me what your favorite summer memory has been so far! Now, onto the layout!
I used quite a few mixed media elements in today's process. There's paints, stenciling, splattering, and more! I hope you enjoy this layout and the process behind it. My pick 5 items were some mini star brads, a sport stamp set from Recollections, a stencil from Target, the Basic Grey Fact 12x12 paper pad, and DCWV Costal paper pad. All of these items will be linked down below for purchase. Here's how I put it all together!
I hope you're all enjoying these mixed media type layouts! I really like how this one ended up coming together. I especially love how the visual triangle of that pop of green turned out in the end. It really helps the eye move about the page.
I know that there has been a lot of discussion about white and cream being together and personally, I don't mind it. On this layout in particular, I think that I used enough of both that one doesn't seem out of place over the other. Scrapbooking design tends to be about balance. Often times on my layouts you'll see me put three of one thing, in this case I used the star stencil in three different sections on my layout to help create triangles and diagonal movement.
It doesn't always have to be odd numbers though, for instance, the silver brads are scattered about the layout. I ended up using four and it doesn't feel unbalanced. This layout has a lot of elements, but because of the negative space I tried to leave, it gives it some breathing room. Sometimes I find my layouts need more breathing room, so I try to keep that in mind while creating my pages.
I've talked about this before, but I have to bring it up again because this layout was the exact same thing. I had not picked out a title before starting this layout or anywhere in the beginning process. I had to stop the camera and sift through my alphabet sets to figure out a title for this layout! It felt like it took me ages. I finally found the green block letter stickers that matched the green stenciling I did and went with it. I then found these larger blue alphabet stickers which weren't an exact match, but it works.
For all of my journaling I used a silver gel pen from the dollar store. It's a little bit hard to see in the photos here, but it is much more apparent in person. That pretty much sums up this layout!
I hope you all enjoyed this mixed media layout and process video! If you like these types of projects be sure to let me know. Be sure to also subscribe for more projects and inspiration! Product links are down below. Thanks for stopping by!
