Where the Wilds Things Are // 12x12 layout with one piece of paper!

May 05, 2016

Hello again everyone! I hope you're doing well. I've got a layout today that ate up a bunch of my embellishment stash and I'm thrilled with the way it turned out! As you probably also gathered from the title of this post, yes, I did only use one sheet of paper! Can you believe it?! Let's dive into the details!

These photos are of my boyfriend and I when we went to the zoo to celebrate our one year anniversary of being together. We snapped one picture in front of the sign and one in front of the waterfall in the exotic room. Now, as I said above, this layout uses a crap ton of embellishments. I knew when I purchased these packs of white and teal flowers (for 50 cents each I might add) that I wanted to use them right away. These photos happened to work with the colors in the pictures so beautifully that I couldn't resist piling them on.

I also recently purchased a paper pad from one of those Michael's hot buy racks and it was this Sea Glass collection (love this paper pad!). Once I had my flowers and my background paper, I knew I wanted to add some metallic elements (aka another reason for me to use my gold Heidi Shine). So, I grabbed some of these beautiful foil K&Company die cuts. They come in a pack with a bunch of other ones, but I mainly used the flowers.

I began clustering and layering everything together and wanted another dimension to these clusters. I went through my die cut junk tray and pulled out some punched out butterflies from my favorite Martha Stewart punch, These are just in some kraft cardstock, but I really love the way they added another texture. I then pulled out some gold flat back pearls from Michael's and added some of those throughout my clusters. I don't know about you, but do you guys use the larger gems when you have these huge clusters? I always find it hard trying to find a layout that they don't look awkward on.

To add some more fun to the layout, I pulled out my Tim Holtz tiny word stickers and plastered some of those on there. I have the seasonal flip book of his and I love them so much! Do you guys have his tiny stickers? I'm working on some freebies for you guys that involve tiny words, so stay tuned!

To put on the final touches, I added some gold color shine droplets on to the page and tucked a tag with journaling under the photo. That's it! It came together much quicker than I thought it would. Gluing all of those tiny pieces down was the hardest part, haha! Product links down below and be sure to tell me what you guys want to see in terms of themes for some free tiny word printables! Thanks for stopping by!
