Crayola Marker Watercolor Feathers // Card Creations

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today I have a new technique to share with you. I've seen this technique done by a couple of other people, but I just had to try it for myself. I also want to make a video tutorial for you all on this topic. Grab your Crayola markers and get ready to watercolor!
Essentially, we're using the markers as the pigment for our watercoloring. I loved how the markers gave such a high pigment compared to some watercolor sets I've used. They were fairly easy to move around with water as well. I am featuring this feather stamp from Amy Tangerine. I stamped it in Staz-on black ink on watercolor paper. I then took two colors like dark teal and a mint green and put them on opposite sides of the feather. Starting with the lighter color, I pulled the color towards the white middle section.
Once I had all of the feathers colored in, I let them completely dry. I trimmed them out loosely and ended up with three to use on this card. I created a card base of 110 lb white cardstock that I cut to A2 size. Then, I cut a piece a Kraft color cardstock to 5 1/2" x 4".
My sentiment for this card is bold to help contrast the bright feathers. I used a Technique Tuesday wafer die that cuts this fun "Thanks" sentiment. I cut it out of black cardstock and I realize that it's not centered, but I originally thought I wanted it offset. Oops! I wanted to add a little bit more pizzazz, so I used my Wink of Stella glitter brush pen on the letters. I tried to capture the glimmer in a photo, but that also didn't work out too well.
To finish off the card, I used a variety of enamel dots to match the colors of my feathers. I used some from Recollections and some from Freckled Fawn.
