Spread Happiness // Card Creation

July 06, 2017

Hello crafty friends! Welcome back to my blog for another card creation card share. Today, I am sharing a vibrant card with a great message. I recently picked up this Mama Elephant stamp set and I'm so glad I got to use it! I started with an A2 sized card base made out of 110 lb kraft cardstock. This card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" when folded. Then, I took a piece of 110 lb white cardstock and cut it to 4" x 5 1/4" to create my background.

I used a Heidi Swapp stencil to get this fun pattern. I used Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed distress inks to get this "blended" background. As you can probably tell, I'm still working on my distress ink techniques. This isn't my favorite background, but I think it's fun.

Then, I moved on to my stamps. I used this Mama Elephant stamp set called "Up We Go". IT definitely reminds me of the movie Up! I stamped the balloons and the little animal on to some white cardstock. I used the same distress ink colors to watercolor the images. I decided to go for a more pastel look on the images rather than the bright and bold background colors I used earlier. Once they were dry, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out with my Cuttlebug.

To give the card more interest, I decided to pop the balloon piece on some foam adhesive. I think these balloons would also look cool if they had glossy accents on them. I used my Hampton Art stamping tool to get a solid image of the balloon lines on to the background.

Lastly, I stamped the coordinating sentiment in black Staz-on ink directly to my background. I noticed that the "p" and "r" in the phrase was misshaped on the stamp itself, so I might go back and touch it up with a marker on this card. Last, but not least, I used some Whimsy Stamps enamel dots to add some more color. I hope you enjoyed this fun card! It was fun to do some stenciling on a card since I don't do that very often. Thanks for stopping by!
