VIDEO: Poor Pup // 12x12 Layout Process Video
January 06, 2018
Ah, the first layout of 2018! I can hardly believe the first week of the new year is almost over (at least, at the time of writing this). I am using a sketch today to inspire me to create an adorable layout about my dog, Comet! This was a really fun sketch to work with. It involves a lot of cutting, but definitely worth it in the end! This is also part of a fun challenge in the Rediscover Your Stash Event on Facebook hosted by Sara Scraps and Khristina Sorge. Let's hop right in to this layout!
As part of my New Year's Resolutions, I am attempting to use one 12x12 paper pad and 3 6x6 paper pads, however I would be happy with any scrappy usage of my stash. We all know that we have a little bit too much of some items and mine is probably paper. The background for this layout is from the Craft Smith Blue Blooms paper pad which I shared in this haul video. An absolutely gorgeous paper pad and I think I'll be using it a lot this year. Watch the full process video down below.
I had a blast creating little clusters on this layout. Although, I didn't follow the sketch to a T, it is still very reminiscent. When deciding which patterns to put where, I first cut them and then played with the design. I wanted there to be a mix of colors and patterns for the background to create interest. A couple of the patterns repeat to give a more cohesive look. These papers are from Studio Calico, Pebbles, and DCWV. I have links to the ones still available down below. If you're looking for where a specific pattern came from just let me know!
I went for a smaller, more simple title on this layout. The orange block letters are from Studio Calico and the white foam letter stickers are the American Crafts Ivy font. I put this on a busier patterned paper, but it still pops just enough.
I purchased a lot of new flair from a shop called The Crafty Pocket in December. You can see everything I got in that haul by watching this video. The two flair featured on this layout are from her wonderful shop. She has the cutest designs! I made a cluster featuring this flair and paired it with some Wild Whisper sequins (linked at the bottom of the post) and a tiny banner sticker from A Beautiful Mess which is also from my Studio Calico Black Friday haul.
Lastly, I popped my photo on some foam to give it a boost. I think this brings more attention to it overall and lets the doily be extra dainty. I hope you enjoyed this process video. I hope to make a ton of content in 2018, so be sure to leave your input on what type of videos you would like to see! I have attempted to link all of the products used down below if they were still available. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2018! Thanks for stopping by!
