This spread is an 8x8 chipboard album spread. I decided to use the remaining photos from my 2016 album to make a mini album for my brother and sister-in-law. These were really simple layouts to create. I covered the chipboard with some DCWV paper, but did that off camera. I have several process videos from a previous chipboard album where I show my process on how I do that. Below is the process video for these pages that explains my embellishing choices and more!

To the right side of the photo, I used some washi rape as a divider between the two patterned papers. These washi tapes are from Recollections and American Crafts. I did a tiny bit of embellishing to take up some of the space. The giant puffy sticker is from Pink Fresh Studio, then the "celebrate" and heart stickers are from American Crafts.


On the right hand page, I wanted minimal embellishing since it is such a large photo. Plus, I didn't want to overpower the left hand page. I created a small cluster in the bottom left using a chipboard tag sticker from American Crafts paired with a small title. The "3" is from Paige Evans and the "grads" is a Heidi Swapp sticker set. I also tucked a little puffy sticker that says "OMG!" next to the binder rings.

The right hand page features a nice photo of my family and I. I wanted this photo to stay large because its important to the story. This page is actually light purple cardstock. Since the photo is quite busy, I wanted a very plain background. The purple works well with the blue shades. I decorated the edges with some washi tape from American Crafts, stickers from Pink Fresh Studio, and of course more resin flowers!

 As you probably already know, this mini album features a beautiful paper pad by Craft Smith Co called Blue Blooms. I chose two of the fabulous patterns for these two pages. The pretty journaling card on the left hand page is from the cut apart sheet in that same paper pad.


I wanted to jazz up the left hand page since the journaling card by itself would be a little plain for my taste. I put an intricate doily underneath the card and then moved on to some embellishing! I used a Freckled Fawn banner sticker under the beautiful title piece from Jen Hadfield.


I used some of the same embellishments as the last couple of pages including some puffy dots from Fancy Pants and stickers from Pink Fresh Studio. In the corner I used an adorable dimensional diploma sticker from K & Company. I have had these stickers since my brother's high school graduation! About time I got some of them used up!


The right hand page is simple and uses similar embellishments. I really wanted the photos to shine! I used a chipboard sticker from American Crafts to bring in even more pink. I hope you enjoyed these pages! I can't wait for you to see the rest. Thanks for stopping by!

The left page is a title page featuring a cut apart from the paper pad. I extended the title out by using some Paige Evans Thickers to spell "grow".  I layered a white doily behind the cut apart and rounded the corners for a better fit. I also used some polka dot washi tape in the title cluster.


To emphasize this page with more textures, I grabbed some resin flowers from my stash. Luckily, I have a bunch of different colors to choose from and these two matched perfectly. I finished decorating the page using a couple of stickers from the Pink Fresh Studio Indigo Hills planner icons set. I sprinkled some Fancy Pants puffy dots from the Golden Days collection.


The other page features a photo of me getting ready for graduation. I matted the photo on some navy cardstock from DCWV. I kept this page quite simple. There's two strips of washi tape one from Pink Fresh Studio and the other from American Crafts. I used a chevron chipboard piece that said "dream big" as a layering piece under a Pinkfresh Studio quote sticker. Like the other page, this one is decorated with puffy dots and resin flowers.

I think it is always so interesting to see how others work on specific projects, specially keeping all of the things together. This is what works for me best, but I'm sure there are plenty of other great methods out there if you don't think this will work for you. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know. This mini album is from Basic Grey and it's in the color milk chocolate. This is a waterfall album where the pages are not all the same size, but they have a cascade sort of effect. Making any type of mini album for friends or family is a really great and sentimental/thoughtful gift! I have a full flip through video below, but I will go into some more details and tips about giving a mini album as a gift down below!


Although I named most of the products in the flip through video, I'll also have some links to where you'll be able to purchase those or similar products at the end of this post. Now, I'll discuss the method I used for creating an album for someone else.


As for the inside of the mini album, I decided to keep it super simple. I mainly did a couple paper layers with the photos and then washi tape to add more color without adding dimension. As you might've been able to tell, this mini album does not lay flat. It's actually quite thick. This was due to the fact that I used a lot of wood veneer, chipboard, resin flowers, and more that caused so much dimension. I really enjoy dimension on my projects to add interest, but you don't have to add dimension. Washi tape and die cut pieces can add a lot of interest without having to get a lot of dimension.


One way to get an interesting look without a lot of bulk is to use different textures. In this example here, I used tissue paper, foiled polka dots, glittered pieces, and even the washi tape patterns add extra interest. Since you are making this for someone as a gift, be aware of their favorite colors. If you are unsure about their favorite colors, then maybe experiment with different color schemes on different pages.


I didn't want this mini album to be too photo heavy. I wanted there to be photos, but also the possibility to include fun and motivational spots for my niece to read. There's parts that say be brave and other parts that leave room for journaling. Don't be afraid to add fun interactive elements like pockets and tags that can be used to include more photos.


Treat each set of pages as if it is its own layout. This will help you experiment with new designs without getting stuck in a rut. However, if you're more comfortable sticking to one template, you go girl! This mini album should reflect your hard work and not just stress you out with being unique. As you saw in the flip through video, this minimalistic mini album took me two days to complete. I had an idea in mind and gathered supplies, then ran with it. It was freeing to work on a layout that was not 12x12 for once! I really enjoyed experimenting with a new shape and type of memory keeping and hope you all will try it too.
