One of a Kind // Mother's Day Card - Card Creations

May 11, 2017

I can hardly believe that it is already practically Mother's Day! I only say this because that means I'm graduating super soon! As I've mentioned before, this year is an incredibly huge year in my life. A lot of changes are going to be happening soon and to be honest I'm not sure I am ready, but we'll see! Today, I have a lovely unconventional Mother's Day card to share with you all.

I started with my usual base of 110 lb. white cardstock scored at 4 1/4" to create an A2 sized card. Then, I layered a piece of DCWV cardstock from their jeweled cardstock collection which is cut to 4" x 5 1/4". I like how these cardstocks have a waffle texture to them. It adds a lot of visual interest to the card.

Then, I worked on the main panel. I used my stamping tool to get solid images. All of the stamps on the front panel are from Heidi Swapp's Magnolia Jane collection. Once I had them all stamped in the place that I wanted, I filled them in with my watercolors. I used two shades of pinks and one shade of green for the images.

Once I had everything painted and it had dried, I matted it with some black cardstock. I wanted to fill in the gap at the bottom of the card to make the spacing look more even. I ended up grabbing another sheet of white cardstock, then I used a Fiskars border punch. This adds just enough detail to the card that it makes it more feminine and less boxy. I also added some Doodlebug sprinkles in a silver glitter for more detail.

Lastly, I finished the inside of the card! I used another Heidi Swapp stamp to make a little icon. I paired this with an Avery Elle phrase building stamp set. That completes this fun mother's day card! I really like how it is an nontraditional sentiment on the front. I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!
