I was inspired when I saw this paper from Dear Lizzy with preprinted watercolor patterns on the grid pattern. While I wasn't thrilled by the pink color, I decided to just add more colors to match my color scheme more appropriately. To do this, I used the packaging technique. It's harder to explain through text, but easy to understand through the process video below.



Once the watercoloring was dry, I added some extra color with splatters. I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in the color navy, a light blue Recollections spray, and an October Afternoon sprinkler in the color Rocket Age. These watercolor and splattering techniques add a lot of subtle detail to the layout, even though we cover up some of it later. Next, up I do another form of mixed media using stencils and modeling paste. I decided to use a stencil from DCWV to create part of my title which is something I have never done before. The stencil reads "Here we go", but I decided to fill in the "go" with stickers later on. Then, to add more texture I used a Dylusions stencil from Ranger with a unique triangular geometric pattern. I place this in three different locations on my layout to add more interest.


In this photo you can see I have finished off the title of this layout using some American Crafts Thickers to spell out "go". I also included some epoxy like arrow stickers from Jen Hadfield. I also include these in the cluster underneath my photo which you'll see a close up of later in this post. I think that this photo also helps highlight the watercolor that I added to the background of the layout.


I wanted to make the cluster in the top left a little bigger than just the title, so I decided to utilize some stamps! I used a stamp set from Elle's Studio Let's Eat collection. I used Memento black ink to stamp this small asterisk like star all over my background. It is a nice accent to include to bring in more of the stark contrast of the black on the watercolor background. I also used a Project Life brand rotary stamp and used several of them on the background. I utilized the double stamping technique to add more interest.


I only have two main clusters on this layout, but I really like how it turned out. My photo is layered on white and orange cardstock. I also made a small banner using Doodlebug Designs patterned paper to include more of the blue color. I put this entire photo cluster, including the doily on some fun foam to give it a small bit of dimension. You can also see this orange star washi tape tucked under the photo and this is from Basic Grey.


I used another one of Elle's Studio stamps here in the bottom cluster. Since this photo had a little bit to do with eating, I thought I would utilize this stamp. I also scattered more of the enamel dots from Whimsy Stamps and Echo Park throughout this cluster. I used a couple of Simple Stories phrase stickers to add more to the story.


Lastly, I have a small cluster of stickers on top of the photo. The one on the left is from Freckled Fawn and the heart is from Elle's Studio! I hope you all enjoyed this mixed media scrapbooking layout. It was a blast to make. Thank you so much for watching and stopping by!
