DIY Thankful for Wreath // Thankful Thursday

November 19, 2015

Hello everyone! If you're new here be sure to go hop on over to my giveaway post so you can enter my current giveaway! Also be sure to follow so you can get future updates and more DIYs!

Today I have a fun craft that anyone can do. This would be a great project to do with your kids or with your whole family on Thanksgiving! I can picture it now sitting around the table and passing out markers and the leaves, but now I'm just getting ahead of myself.

To start this DIY I gathered some basic fall colors so I could start tracing my leaves. If you don't feel comfortable about free hand drawing your leaves, then you can find a bunch of free templates on line that you can trace. I recommend choosing a few different shapes, but you could totally just go with one shape if you like symmetry.

Another tip when cutting out your leaves. To save time, try and pile all of your papers together (5 sheets maximum) and staple them together, so when you cut through them they don't jiggle around.

Originally, I was going to make another banner out of all of my leaves, so I punched some holes using my crop-a-dile. but then changed my mind after the fact!

I then began to curl and bend my leaves to give them some texture and dimension. The idea of this project is to hand a few leaves to each member of your family and have them write what they are thankful for. My boyfriend and I did this and it's really fun to put together in the end. It's also really fun to reflect on the year with everyone! Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions? Let me know in the comments!

To put it all together, I just used some washi tape on the back of each leaf and started playing with the placement on the wall.  You could also just use a circle template

Here's just one more close up of the completed project! I plan on writing a few more things on the empty leaves as we get closer to Thanksgiving. Don't forget to enter my giveaway by commenting on this post and subscribing! Thank you so much for stopping by and happy holidays!
