VIDEO: Moving Out - 12x12 Layout Process Video // Homemade Kit Collab
February 22, 2018
Hello crafty people! This is the last layout process video in my collab series with Anna for this month. I think I plan on using my kit until there is practically nothing left, so you may see a couple more process videos in March. Be on the lookout for our final layout shares and kill-a-kit videos! Let's dive in to today's layout!
I must say that this was so much fun to work on! I got inspired by a challenge over on Paper Issues' Facebook Group to scraplift an adorable layout. I stayed true to the foundational pieces, but went off the deep end when it came to embellishing! I explain my design decisions and more in my process video down below.
The background paper is from Simple Stories' Posh collection. I got this one random paper from the collection from the April Lilli store when they had their huge sale. I cut down a piece of random paper in my stash that is light blue with a text pattern and made it 8" x 6" and 8" x 2 1/2". They leave a small gap in between to make room for a title.
The embellishing was a little crazy on this one, I'll admit it. I had so many colors to choose from thanks to the background paper that I really just chose them all. On the right hand side I feature this adorable wood clip from Pink Fresh Studio. I paired it with a Recollections 3D butterfly and a wood veneer butterfly to bring in more pink and the wood color. Beneath that I used a bunch of stickers including heart stickers from Pretty Little Studio, camera puffy sticker from Heidi Swapp, and a small heart diecut from Echo Park.
At the bottom right, I added some texture. I used three strands of my twine from my kit to create this fun border. I also used this adorable "story" stamp from Scraptastic. I originally had a pink word sticker there, but hated it later on and covered it with this striped banner from Crate Paper. In this cluster I also used a Simple Stories phrase sticker.
The largest cluster is probably the one to the bottom right of my photo. It has a lot of different elements, but I still like it. I have a stack of books which is from Shimelle, a journaling sticker from We R Memory Keepers, a chipboard flower from Paige Evans, and some other elements that were mentioned in the other clusters.
I really think this is a great layout design, especially if you have a smaller photo and a large title. My title tells most of the story, but I plan on adding journaling too. Next to my photo I have a ton of layers. Some of these are from Pebbles, or Pink Paislee, or Kaiser Craft. A mix of colors and patterns to add interest. I think the split doily really helps on this layout to make it feel more cohesive.
I would highly recommend joining the Paper Issues Facebook Group if you are not already. They have tons of fun challenges, events, and inspiration! I wish I had more time to play along with all of them. I hope you enjoyed this layout and process. Thanks for stopping by!
